Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Bufr at bufrai.com ("Service"), operated by the Bufr team (legal entity formation in progress — see Operator). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
Operator
The Service is operated by Bufr ("we," "us"). A formal legal entity name and registered address will be published here upon incorporation. Until then, contact support@bufrai.com.
The Service
Bufr provides AI-assisted message moderation, shared co-parenting records (schedules, expenses, decisions, action items), and optional read-only access for invited attorneys. The Service is designed to support communication between separated parents — it is not legal advice, mediation, or therapy.
Accounts
- You must provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials secure.
- Each parent requires their own paid subscription (unless exempt as an invited attorney or admin). Both parents in a case must have active accounts for full functionality.
- During beta, registration may be limited to invited users, approved beta requests, beta codes, or case invitees.
- You are responsible for activity under your account.
Subscriptions and billing
- Paid plans are billed monthly ($15/month) or annually ($150/year) through Stripe unless otherwise stated.
- New subscribers receive a 14-day free trial. You will not be charged until the trial ends unless you cancel first.
- You may cancel anytime through the Stripe customer portal (Settings → Manage subscription). Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period.
- Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis; contact support@bufrai.com.
Beta program
- Beta access may be granted at Bufr's discretion after review of a request or via an invite code.
- During the beta period, approved beta accounts may use the Service without a paid subscription.
- At official release, beta accounts convert to standard accounts. Continued use requires an active subscription unless you are exempt (e.g. invited attorney read-only access).
- Beta features, data retention, and access may change without notice as we iterate toward launch.
AI moderation
Bufr uses AI to screen, rewrite, or block messages. AI output may not always reflect your exact intent. You are responsible for reviewing moderated messages before they are delivered. Bufr does not guarantee that all hostile, off-topic, or inappropriate content will be caught or rewritten correctly.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service to harass, threaten, or impersonate others.
- Attempt to bypass moderation, access controls, or billing restrictions.
- Upload malware or interfere with the Service's operation.
- Use the Service for purposes unrelated to co-parenting communication.
Records and legal use
Bufr stores communication records with timestamps and export capabilities. We do not represent that records are court-admissible, tamper-proof, or acceptable in any specific jurisdiction. Consult your attorney about whether Bufr records meet your legal needs.
Exports: Parent account exports show delivered messages as they appeared in your thread; your own pre-moderation drafts may appear when Bufr rewrote a message you sent. Co-parent pre-moderation drafts and Bufr coaching notes on their messages are omitted from parent exports. Invited attorneys may receive fuller exports for case preparation. See our Privacy Policy.
Attorney partners
- Bufr may offer referral or partner programs to licensed attorneys.
- If you register through an attorney partner link or code, that attorney may receive compensation from Bufr if you subscribe to a paid plan. This does not affect your subscription price.
- Bufr's relationship with partner attorneys is commercial, not legal. Partner attorneys do not work for Bufr and do not provide legal advice on Bufr's behalf.
- Inviting an attorney to view your case is separate from the partner program and requires your explicit action in the app.
Intellectual property
Bufr owns the Service, branding, and software. You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant us a license to process your content solely to operate and improve the Service.
Disclaimer of warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. WE DO NOT WARRANT UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION.
Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BUFR AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE OR RELIANCE ON AI-MODERATED MESSAGES.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. You may delete your account by contacting support@bufrai.com.
Changes
We may update these Terms. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. Material changes will be posted on this page.
Governing law
These Terms will be governed by the laws of the State of Texas (or the state of Bufr's incorporated operating entity once formed), without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Until incorporation is complete, contact support@bufrai.com with questions about jurisdiction.
